Mindmap.io beginner's guide

Short clips that take one map from an empty node to a published link.

  1. Create a node: Double click on a node to edit it, press Enter to save it. Hover the node and click the + on its right edge to add a child.

  2. Ask a question: Open the type dropdown in the node's drawer and choose Prompt. Type your question and click Send.

  3. Ask a follow-up: Click the + on an answered node to ask a follow-up. It already knows everything above it.

  4. Branch out: Click the + again on the same node to start a second branch.

  5. Chat view: Click the chat button on a node to open its thread from the root. Ask a follow-up there and it lands on the map as a new node.

  6. Delete a node: Right-click a node and choose Delete. It removes that node and everything under it, and ⌘Z brings it back.

  7. Change the model: Double-click a node to edit its prompt. Click the model name in the drawer to pick a different model, then click Send to run it again.

  8. Add an image or PDF: Drag an image or PDF onto a node while you are editing it. Or click the + in the drawer and choose Add files or photos. Prompt nodes take files too, so you can ask a question about one.

  9. Color coding: Click the node color button in the drawer and pick a color.

  10. Ask Milo: Click Ask Milo in the bottom right and describe what you want. Milo can create, edit and delete nodes, and answer questions about your map.

  11. Fold a branch: Click the collapse arrow to fold a branch. Click the number badge to bring it back.

  12. Zoom out to summaries: Click the zoom buttons in the bottom right to step out. Each step replaces every node with a shorter summary, down to a single keyword.

  13. Publish and share: Click Share in the toolbar, publish the map, and copy the link. Anyone with the link can read the map without an account.
